Pochampally Ikkat is a centuries-old weaving tradition from Telangana, celebrated for its distinctive resist-dye technique. For sometime now the weavers of Telangana have begun experimenting and skillfully weaving patola patterns (originally from Patan and now in Surendranagar) in their sarees given that they are already skilled in thread dyeing of ikkat.
This saree features a striking patola style combination of deep red, white and black, with a bold geometric-floral design.
-
Body: Repeated large, rounded medallions in black are arranged in a grid against a vivid red ground. Each medallion contains small, colourful floral and geometric motifs - like a flower arrangement
-
Border: The contrasting black sections frame the patterned area, while bands of repeated medallions create a strong geometric rhythm.
-
Pallu and pattern layout: The design uses repeated motifs and carefully balanced colour blocks, giving the saree a distinctive, symmetrical appearance.
This 5.50-meter saree, paired with a 100-cm contrast blouse piece, is ideal for festive occasions, weddings, and celebrations. The bold geometric patterns make it a statement piece that pairs beautifully with a solid blouse for balanced styling. The natural luster of mulberry silk combined with traditional Ikkat craftsmanship creates an heirloom-quality garment that honors authentic Indian textile heritage.
Care Instructions: Dry clean recommended to preserve the integrity of the hand-dyed threads and silk finish. For gentle hand washing, use lukewarm water with mild soap, avoid wringing, and lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight. Iron on low heat with a pressing cloth to maintain the saree's natural sheen. Store in a cool, dry place, preferably wrapped in muslin cloth to protect the delicate silk fibers.
